1B Lettice Street, Parson’s Green, London, SW6 4EH Once again it’s tasting time and for 2010 there will be 25 tastings, including four in January, just before the Bordeaux residential weekend. Tastings will follow the Master of Wine exam format – 12 wines in 2¼ hours – with both wines and questions in line with recent exams. There will be group feedback afterwards and the sessions will last around 3½ hours. I will provide the wines and question sheets. You need to bring 12 glasses, a spittoon and paper to write on. Please note that as many tastings as possible have been timed to fit in with the 1st and 2nd Year Course Days held in London which is why the 16th/17th April tastings are on Friday and Saturday and NOT Saturday and Sunday. The final three tastings precede the MW exam which starts on Tuesday June 1st. Last year, of the ten students that passed the Practical part of the MW exam, I am pleased to say that eight of them were ex-attendees of my tastings and whilst this may be complete coincidence, the old adage that “the more you practice, the luckier you get” is as true for the MW tasting exam as it is for golf. Places are limited to a maximum of 12 students per tasting so please book early.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the tasting. Refunds can only be given - except in exceptional circumstances - with 7 days notice of cancellation. I reserve the right to cancel a tasting at my discretion, but subject to giving students who have booked places 7 days notice. Parson’s Green tube station is 5 minutes walk from my flat and is on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line. There are plenty of buses along the Fulham Road or the New Kings Road. Get off near the Munster Road. There is street parking in this area. You have to pay on Saturday (up to 5pm) but it is free on Sundays.
